04-08-2006: Chevy Driver Tony Stewart Awards 2007 Tahoe He Helped Build in Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas - Tony Stewart, the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion, presented keys April 8 to lucky winners of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The give-away was part of a promotion to launch the all-new 2007 Chevy Tahoe and gave consumers the opportunity to register to win a Tahoe Stewart helped assemble.

Stewart, driver of the No. 20 The Home Depot Monte Carlo SS, made a visit to the GM Assembly Plant in Arlington, Texas on December 13, 2005, where the new Tahoe is built. Stewart visited various work stations and was taught by assembly line workers to install, adjust and secure different parts and components of the newly designed Tahoe, which would be released in early January 2006.

On April 8, the winning consumers were special guests of Chevrolet at Texas Motor Speedway. Prior to the start of the O'Reilly 300 Busch Series race, guests were treated to a special meet and greet where they were presented with keys to one of the Tahoes built by Stewart. The NASCAR champion posed for pictures and talked about the vehicle he helped build.

Grand Prize Winner, George (Harley) Steffens of Memphis, Tenn. was presented with keys to the 2007 Chevy Tahoe which Stewart helped build at the Arlington plant in December. Gregory Stinson, Bowling Green Kentucky, participated in the meet and greet and posed for pictures during the afternoon session.

The redesigned 2007 Chevy Tahoe was launched in early January and features improved power, improved segment-leading fuel economy and increased interior refinement. The new Tahoe takes over at the top of the segment in sales, quality and comfort and has been the best-selling full-size SUV since 2001.

In addition to the new design, the 2007 Tahoe also boasts better fuel economy.

Two-wheel drive models equipped with a 5.3L engine are EPA-rated at 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway; 4WD models are rated 15 mpg in the city and 21 on the highway.
